We just returned from our yearly holiday visit with Chris's family in Wisconsin. It is so different than the Christmas I grew up with. Christmas at my parents house is a production. Lots of family and friends, people staying over from out of town, SO MUCH FOOD AND WINE, and of course, a huge heaping of New York neurotic stress and anxiety. Wisconsin Christmases are quiet. Cozy. Just family. Pajamas all day. Fireplace lit. Kids running around. Easy conversation. No pressure. It's wonderful. Both have a very special place in my heart. But this year, Wisconsin was exactly how I wanted to spend the holidays with our little family, reflecting on the year gone by and dreaming of the year ahead.
